“Nerd Nite is kind of like a bunch of TED talks, but with beer,” says host and voice talent, Mo Lotman in his opening remarks to the wall to wall crowd occupying the World War II Club on Conz Street. This was only the second Northampton Nerd Nite since its debut in October and it has been a smashing success, attracting a lively and engaged crowd. This evenings presenters were Aaron Jensen, artist and middle school teacher, and Duncan Irshick and Al Crosby, professors at UMass Amherst. Jensen’s presentation, “You’ve been hallucinating this whole time” focused on human perception of color and how certain colors may just simply be optical illusions while Irshick and Crosby discussed their work with Geckskin, a powerful and reusable adhesive tape based on gecko feet that could be the replacement for duct tape.
The next Nerd Nite will be held on January 6th at the World War II Club (The Deuce), and all are welcome.
