Protest! Umass Divest Protest 4/14/16

More than 250 demonstrators from the UMass Fossil Fuel Divestment Campaign staged a sit-in at the Whitmore Administration Building on April 14, 2016 to demand that the University of Massachusetts Amherst sever all financial ties to fossil fuels. The protest lasted 2 weeks.

The University of Massachusetts Foundation board of directors voted unanimously on Wednesday May 25, 2016 to end the university’s direct investments in fossil fuel companies, according to UMass officials. The decision makes UMass one of the first public universities in the country to divest from fossil fuels.
